ASTON MICROPHONES - New UK made Studio mics arriving in December
Introducing Aston Microphones, a British condenser microphone and accessory brand. Conceived, designed, and yes, manufactured all in the UK. Link Audio is proud to announce we are the exclusive Australian distributor for this exciting new brand.
The first two custom crafted models of studio microphones are due to arrive in December 2015. The Aston Origin and Aston Spirit will have an expected street price of A$499- and A$699.
The Aston Origin is a high-performance cardioid condenser microphone utilising a one inch (1″) gold evaporated capsule. It is versatile enough to use with most instruments and excels on acoustic guitar and vocals. Its hand-selected capsule is teamed with high-end transformer-less circuitry using only the best components such as WIMA capacitors, the same devices you’ll find in boutique microphones costing far more than the Origin.
The Aston SPIRIT is a high-performance, switchable pattern, microphone utilising a 1” gold evaporated capsule. A switch on the mic body selects from Omni, Cardioid or Figure-of-Eight polar patterns. It is versatile enough to use with most instruments and excels on acoustic guitar and vocals. Its hand-selected capsule is teamed with high-end transformer-less circuitry using only the best components such as WIMA capacitors, the same devices you’ll find in boutique microphones costing far more than the Spirit.
The Aston team have been determined to prove that a British team can both design and build some of the best products in the industry, in the UK. More than just microphones, we are to expect reflection filter-type products from Aston in the near future, with James Young being partly responsible for conceiving the Reflexion Filter when working for sE Electronics from 2002-2014.
“A big frustration has been the lack of any real development in reflection filter technology in the last decade since the release of the first model by sE back in 2006. We at Aston wanted to make a real step forward from this old technology” says James. The design team at Aston decided, therefore, to go back to the drawing board with their take on a Reflexion Filter type product.
